Potting Table
My first and last potting table!
It all started because my friend Melissa told me that she wanted to spend more time outside in her garden.
Her birthday was coming up so I tried to think of a garden-inspired gift to get her but I couldn’t narrow down any ideas she might like and use.
I went on Pinterest and scrolled through all things gardening and stumbled upon different potting tables. I found some that were nice but either too expensive or too cheap looking.
Then I thought I could make one from all the extra scraps and materials I had! Of course I would!
I began by going through the scrap wood section in our garage. I finagled a bunch of multi-length 4x4 pressure treated wood, 2 plywood boards and a bunch of other random wood.
I gathered everything from scrap wood, left over paint, shutters from our house, hinges from old doors and a piece of metal my husband found while dumpster diving. Yes, that is his current hobby. It’s actually quite lucrative.
I didn’t really have a set plan in mind, but I began cutting four 4x4 pieces of wood to use as feet. I had 2 planter style boxes already assembled that I used for the base and table top. I used 2 plywood boards on the bottom of each planter to provide better support for the table.
I used a torch and mallet to shape the metal around the wood top and construction screws and liquid nails to glue that sucker down forever. The metal had a rough edge so I added another metal piece to cover. That piece was originally the base for a wall mirror. I was able to create 4 separate compartments with from door hinges and used left over gold handles from our laundry room renovation
